What does off-campus housing near Penn State really cost?

Compare the all-in monthly cost, not just rent. Apartments often add separate electric, gas, internet, a bus pass, furniture and supplies, which can add $300+ a month. At the co.space, rent covers your furnished room, laundry and supplies, with a flat $50 for all utilities, so a double runs $945/month all-in. See the full cost comparison.

Downtown vs. farther out

Living downtown means walking to class, jobs and food, and skipping a car or bus pass. Complexes farther out can be newer but add commute time and transportation costs. The co.space is downtown on East Nittany Avenue, about a 5-minute walk to campus.

Roommates make or break the year

The people you live with shape your social life, sleep and stress. Ask potential roommates real questions, like how they recharge and how they handle conflict, and write down a few simple agreements. Our roommate guide walks through it.

Is co-living right for you?

Co-living means having your own (or a shared) bedroom while sharing common spaces and some intentional community rhythms. At the co.space that means twice-weekly house dinners, two funded retreats a year and a live-in House Manager. It's a great fit if you want built-in friendships and don't want to be isolated in an apartment. It's not a fit if you want a party house or zero interaction with housemates.
